astronomy photographer of the year
Thanks to Mel for the link to Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2011 place-getters and special prize winners. I think my favourite is 'Zodiac Light' by Harley Grady, who won the 'Best Newcomer' award. Catch the free exhibition at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, London, until 12 February 2012.

WOW, that photo is awesome!
yay!!! Aren't the pictures incredible! I think one of my faves is the international space station (with shuttle attached) flying past the front of the sun!! Once in a lifetime shot!
