Last week the winner and finalists of the National Photographic Portrait Prize for 2013 were announced. Melbourne-based photographer Janelle Low took the $25k prize for her thoughtful and gentle portrait of friend Yhonnie and her elderly cat, Indiana.
I also really like Louise Allerton's 'Becky feeding Hazel,' which reminds me of Malick Sidibe's work:
And 'Granny's 90th' by Katherine Bennett:
The exhibition runs at the National Portrait Gallery until 19 May. The 2014 competition opens in October.
