merry christmas

To my dear readers and clients, I hope you have a happy, safe and relaxing Christmas and all the very best for 2011. Here's an Australian wreath that I made especially for you to see this Christmas. It's made from native plants grown in my brother and sister-in-law's garden and smells of beautiful eucalyptus. Thank you for visiting, commenting and being such fun to blog with. Are you ready for Santa?

quercus design

Jennifer Steen Booher runs quercus design, an Etsy shop (and blog of the same name) that offers quirky art and vintage finds. I love Jenn's super fun 'Holiday Lights' photograph - don't those colours and crazy little wires just make you giggle?! It looks like they're dancing...

willie wagtail family

Dad found a Willie Wagtail couple and their nest two weeks ago and we've been following their progress ever since. In that two-week period, amazingly, the eggs were laid, hatched and the babies fledged. I tried to get a photograph of each stage to share with you, if you'd like to see! Here's Mum on the nest...
 She was protecting three eggs...
Five days later they all had hatched with one or two feathers each! Can you see their tiny heads?
Three days after that they were growing bigger and more fluffy...
In three more days they were twice as big, turning black and almost spilling out over the nest...
All it took was another four days and they were all squished in the nest together, spilling over the sides, when the strongest little Wagtail fledged, leaving his two siblings the nest all to themselves.
His first flight was from the branch to the fence-post (about three metres). Look at him there all fluffy and cute!
Then he flew up to a branch and was soon joined by Mum (or Dad, I can't tell) under a heart-shaped leaf.

babies at weddings

Speaking of weddings... Will and I attended the wedding of dear old friends on the weekend and I just loved seeing the little darlings that were also there, dressed in their best and making everyone smile.

courgette fritters

These are Nigella's Courgette Fritters that I made using some of the abundance of courgettes/zucchinis and herbs on the farm. I love the colour of them. And, they're easy to make, soft, fluffy and delish!

i ♥ my clients

My gorgeous client Stephanie used this photograph on her CD from our shoot together...
And framed it in a snow globe as a gift for her darling son. Isn't that such a lovely idea?!

choose your own adventure

This weekend my darling nephews were here for a sleepover. Before they arrived I was clearing out a wardrobe and found one of my brother's old 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books, 'The Cave of Time'. Over the course of two days (that were already filled with two birthday parties, putting up Christmas decorations, swimming, BBQ, Simpsons Scene It...) we must have read it half-a-dozen times. They loved it and it reminded me of how great those books were - did you read them? It's not too late to grab one for a Christmas gift, either!

rhubarb chutney

There's plenty of rhubarb in the garden right now and I'm enjoying using it up. This recipe for rhubarb chutney was very nice. So far we've had it on crackers with sharp, crumbly cheddar cheese. Yum yum!

faces in places

Everywhere I turn there's some sort of face in any old place - I love it! - and the fabulous blog celebrating this phenomenon is now a book. (Oh, isn't Christmas coming up?)
Photo: Faces In Places
I haven't posted any of my face-in-a-place photographs before, so may I take this opportunity to introduce you to a happy little face that lives at the Top Of The Rock...
