the oxford project

In 1984 Peter Feldstein photographed every resident of a small town in Oxford, Iowa. Twenty-years later, he returned to photograph them again. Peter gathered the residents' stories and compiled them with each portrait for his book, The Oxford Project

good will bunting christmas already?

Yes, already! Etsy said that now is the time to get your holiday range in store, so I did what I was told. Anyhow, I wanted to let you first know because some of the designs are limited edition or 'last one's. I found this vibrant and fun fabric from a lovely little fabric store in Tasmania and really enjoyed making each one. Here's Pink Poinsettia:

play school is 45

The beloved Australian children's show, Play School, has just turned forty-five and the ABC is asking fans to share their PS memories. Well, in around 1986, when she came to my parents' backyard produce shop, Benita from Play School was my first-ever celebrity sighting. My friend, Louise, was over to play, so we both got to meet her (and her amazing hair, her friend and her friend's toddler). What a day! What are your PS memories?

family photo shoots: melbourne 2011

I'm planning a trip to Melbourne in August/September for a week or so of family photo shoots. If you or someone you know would like to reserve a day, drop me a line! Gift certificates are also available, and they made great gifts for new parents, father's day, etc. Take a look at my website for more information. Bookings are essential.

kevin van aelst

US-based artist and photographer Kevin Van Aelst takes objects from everyday life and turns them into amazing work that suggests 'the minutiae all around us is capable of communicating much larger ideas'. I think 'Flying' (below) is my favourite. What's yours?

harlex

Have you seen the beautiful products from HarLex? They're a husband and wife team based in Hong Kong who make and sell handcrafted personalised leather goods. I especially love their Personalised Camera Wrist Strap, which is available in a choice of three colours (Rust, please), and their iPad/Macbook covers. "These would make great Christmas gifts!" I hear you say and I couldn't agree more.

home-made cherry ripe

My friend Irrum asked me to make and post about these Cherry Ripe Bites. Irrum whipped up a batch at home in London last week and just loved them. They're an at-home version of Cadbury's Cherry Ripe, which, apparently, is Australia's oldest chocolate bar (fun fact!). They're super easy to make and would be great for a special after-dinner treat or a hostess gift. We hope you like it!

vintage creamers

Another thing on gathering lovely old things, my little ceramics flock is starting to take on a life of its own. I don't buy them very often but when I added the pieces found abroad to the ones I have here at home... I'm not exactly sure what it is - their shape, size, smoothness? - but I just adore them. My favourite of all are little creamers. Is there something special that you sort-of collect?
