canine chronicles: 1900-2000

Remember the gorgeous photography from Au sisters aka Sibling Rivalrie?  Well, the girls are working on a lovely book called 'Canine Chronicles: 1900-2000, A Century of the World's Most Notable Dogs'. Their project is an all-or-nothing one via Kickstarter: If they raise all the money needed to put the book together it goes ahead (hooray!) or, if not, it doesn't and donors receive their money back. Everyone who donates money towards the project will receive something for their contribution, ranging from notecards to a copy of the final book along with your name in the acknowledgments. Good luck girls!

jacaranda at sunset

Aren't Jacaranda trees beautiful? They're in full bloom over here right now. Their flowers are falling and carpeting the streets, so I guess their show will soon be over for another year.

I love US-based photographer Martin Buday's 'Blandscape' photographs. They're packed with colour, texture and detail and I could look at them for hours.

fresh strawberries

One thing Dad has asked me to do while I'm visiting their farm is to pick the ripe strawberries from the garden each day. It's a lovely thing to do and I also love looking at the patterns in the old bricks around the bed. Can you find the little surprise I found in the patch yesterday?

spinach pie

This is Jamie Oliver's Spinach Pie that I made earlier in the week - very tasty! Such a great way to make use of an abundance of spinach/silver-beet in the vegetable garden.

ken duncan

Australian panoramic landscape photographer Ken Duncan is one of my all-time favourite photographers and I've really missed visiting his galleries. If you can grab his work - ranging from small-sizes to huge 75" prints, framed or unframed - early in the edition it is very affordable and makes a great gift. I think his country scenes and hot-air balloon shots are especially beautiful.

flying into sunrise

We're back! The journey home was great: safe, calm and relaxing. We're now buzzing around visiting friends and family before returning to a new normal. It's always very exciting to touch-down again at home after such a long time away, but one of my favourite parts of the trip is watching the sun rise from a window seat. It's such a treat after spending so many hours in the dark, and you know you're almost there! Have you flown into the morning before?

lhr - syd

Well, I think I've been too busy to even mention it, but Will and I are moving back to Australia - we fly out today! We came over to London in 2006 and thought we'd stay for a year or so and now it has been almost five. It's not for ever, though - I'll be back in 2011 to see my clients (and friends!) and I've got some fun ideas for posts and photography projects from home that I can't wait to share with you. So, I'll be away for a few days while we fly and take a break in Singapore. See you very soon...from the other side of the world!

chickens near cheese hill lane

The chickens in Cheshire were so funny! All tall and skinny - have you ever seen a chicken like it?

photographs from a moving vehicle

Remember Julianne Kost's photographs from a moving vehicle? Well, I had a go from my seat on the train to Cheshire. I quite like the results - do you? - especially the little horse-rider (#2), how the fluffy sheep look like long hay bales (#3) and the covered hay like licorice (#5). I think it's a good way to pass some time on a long journey and would be great for kids, too.
